Just before the school holidays, our Sunday school organized an event for the children to show their appreciation to their parents and it was also a day for family bonding.
Besides having performance and gifts presentation by the children to their parents, we had a bento making competition. Each group (all non-bento makers) consists of members of a family. We see some groups with two people while some with five. The rule is to arrange food given into the lunch box in the most appetizing and attractive manner with the tools provided in 20 minutes.

I brought all my lunch boxes and tools and created the rules and invited three judges, one of which was one of the bento makers, Chinnee. Before THE day, I printed out some samples of bentos made by Shoppingmom (She is a very talented and creative bento maker and when the participants saw the samples, they shook their heads and said “I can’t produce this” but they were told that those in the pictures were produced by an expert and so they decided to try their luck). I got some presents for the winners from Daiso

The competition turned out to be a fun event for everyone, even the judges! We see fathers showing their interest and talent and we see how family members work together as a team. Although they are all not bento makers and although they did not know how to use the bento tools prior to the competition, they did well in producing their bentos in the most creative way.

Wow... this is great!!!! I am sure everyone did enjoy they bento making session.... :) Can see that they are full of creative ideas from those pictures.
My guess is oso the big face. :) That's the one that really stands out.
